Gurudaspur and Tarash upazilas on the north, Atgharia upazila on the south, Faridpur and Bhangura upazilas on the east, Baraigram and Gurudaspur upazilas on the west.

Chatmohar thana was established in 1909 and was turned into an upazila in 1982. The upazila consists of one municipality, 10 union parishads, 170 mouzas and 234 villages.

Chatmohar Shahi Mosque (989 AH, 1681 AD), Khonkarni Mosque at Pathanpara (built by the Afghans), Jagannath Mandir at Hundial (renovated by Bhabani Prasad Das in 1590, built much earlier), Snana Mandir (renovated in 1345), Kuthi of the Sheth or Bangala of the Sheth (1779), one domed Mosque at Paikpara (Hundial), one domed Samaj Shahi Mosque at Chatmohar (958 AH or 1549 AD, built by Sultan Salim or Sultan Samir sons of Emperor Sher Shah), tomb of Hazrat Ashraf Jhedani (R); remnants of Neelkuthi Building at village Shalikha, remnants of the homesteads of the zamindars at Parshadanga, Haripur, Shalikha and Chatmohar.
